Take the tourist train around the lake

The train stops at various points around the lake including the ice rink and Panoramic restaurant at the Grand Hotel Toplice.


The walk around the lake takes approximately 1.5 hours. Or stroll through the plateaus in the surrounding countryside.

Bled Castle

Definitely worth a visit for its spectacular view alone but there is also a museum, printing house, wine cellar, herbal gallery and excellent restaurant. Please note that there is an initial cobbled hill to walk up from the car park.

Lake swimming in the Public Lido

Located on the shores of Lake Bled the Public Lido offers sunbeds, swimming, fishing and diving. There is a small entrance fee. Open every day through July and August. Weekends in April, May, June, September and October.

Visit a spa

The Hotel Park, a short walk from the lake, has a large indoor pool and jacuzzi with fantastic views over the lake. There are also two treatment rooms. The Grand Hotel Toplice has a thermal pool, saunas and numerous beauty treatments available and is located right on the side of the lake.

We would recommend the Hotel Golf which has an excellent swimming pool which is both indoor and out with a slide, whirlpools and sunbeds. Non residents can purchase a pass for up to 3 hours or for over 3 hours. Beauty treatments are also available. It too has antastic views over the lake.

Things to do in stunning Lake Bled


Bled Golf Resort – located just 4km, 5 minutes from Bled.

The Kings Golf Course, Bled – one of the oldest golf courses in this part of Europe was built in 1937 and re-designed in 1972 by renowned golf course architect Donald Harradine. It is an 18-hole course lying in the embrace of Slovenia’s highest mountains with wonderful views of the Julian Alps. The 9 hole Lake course opened in 1993 with a more contemporary design and varied relief and three water hazards.

Vintgar Gorge

On the outskirts of Bled and less than a 10 minute drive. Beautiful walk with stunning scenery approx 2 hours and mostly flat, with a coffee shop at the start and finishing points.

Cycling Around Bled and The Julian Alps

Maps are available from the tourist information centre. Cycling routes from Kranjska Gora – Bled takes approx 4 hours. Bled to Bohinj – either 1.5 hours or 3 hours.

Cross Country Skiing

Along the tracks in the surrounding countryside.

Steam Train

On several dates between April and November the steam train runs between Jesenice and Nova Gorica stopping at Bled, Bohinsjska Bistrica, Most Na Soci and Kanal. It picks up from Bled station in the morning and returns early evening. Bookings can be made at Alpetour, Kompas, M Tours or the TIC Bled.

Lake Bohinj

A resort in the Triglav National Park with the largest lake in Slovenia and 2 medieval churches. The lake is much larger and has a more natural habitat than its neighbour lake Bled.

Triglav National Park

Bled is situated on the edge of Triglav National Park which was founded in 1906 and now with 83,807 ha covers practically the entire Julian Alps within Slovene territory. Its highest peak is Mt. Triglav (2,864 m). Bled is an ideal point from which to visit the park’s natural beauties as many accessible and highly interesting places lie virtually in its immediate vicinity; Vintgar Gorge, Pokljuka Plateau, Pokljuka Gorge, Pod Babjim zobom cave and Lake Bohinj.

There are several different ski fields within a 20 minute drive of Bled including Kranjska-Gora, Vogel Ski Centre & Kobla – Bohink, Pokljuka Plateau, Kravec and Velika Planina. Car Rental

Most of the major car rental companies can be found at the airport.


Gorenjska Banka, SKB and NLB are all located in Bled town centre. Only Gorenjska banka is open on Saturday morning from 08:00 –11:00. They all close for lunch during the week, usually 12 – 2pm.

Parking in Bled

Parking at the Lake Shore on Cesta Svobode is limited to 2 hours and there is a fee for here and the other car parks in Bled. Long stay guests in Bled can purchase parking permits for the duration of their stay, on production of proof of residence in Bled, available from the Tourist Association Office in Bled.

For Bus and Train Timetables

Contact the TIC (Tourist Information Centre). There is also a tourist bus to Vintgar Gorge.


There is a hospital located on Presernova Cesta in Bled and a larger hospital in Jesenice, just 20 minutes from Bled.


Merkator is the supermarket chain in Bled. The closest one is just a 10 minute walk from the house on Presernova Cesta in Bled. There is a small car park behind the supermarket - please note it is only open until 4pm on Sundays. There are supermarkets in Lesce, just 5 minutes drive from Bled. After leaving the motorway at the Bled junction there is also a Lidl and Tus for convenience.
